The Rebel XT (350D) has been announced as the successor to the Digital Rebel (300D), which was hugely popular and arguably one of the most important cameras of all time. The XT is looking to be THE camera to get in the upcoming months. Specs are available here. If you are considering buying either a 20D or a Rebel or even a D70 or an *istDS, don't! Wait about a month and a half (it should be available end of March) and seriously consider the Rebel XT.

Why?
I'm going to buy an XT the minute it comes out because I believe it may even be a better camera than the 20D for my needs. It is lighter, smaller and quieter than the 20D. Trade-offs? The 20D has more custom settings, better build and a faster continous shooting mode. The only points I would hesitate on are: The 20D has improved low light AF using f2.8 lenses, I'm not sure if the XT has the same capability. The 20D has a larger capacity battery, I rarely find I run out of battery life, but the new XT battery is only 65% of the 20D's capacity, could be a problem.
